Filmed and directed by Clarence Peters, ‘Johnny’ narrates the story of the eponymous Johnny; a perfidious lover boy who is notorious in his community for his promiscuity and recklessness. The video which is 5 minutes 17 seconds long can be mistaken for a short movie with its interesting story line and array of top Nollywood A-listers like Alex Ekubo who stars as Johnny and Beverly Osu who is one of Johnny’s many mistresses.
The video kicks off with the ace Nigerian comic Bovi and his camera crew, Bovi appears as the host of a Reality TV show titled “We Don Catch Am” which is an imitation of popular American show “Cheaters” it translates to ‘He/she has been caught’ from Nigerian pidgin. Bovi then leads the viewers into the village, the next scene sees numerous women surround Bovi as Yemi Alade begins singing by explaining her predicament to the host while she shows the audience the Johnny has romantic relationships with one even being heavily pregnant for him.
Yemi shows her choreographic talents as she dances in a beaded skirt and mini skirt, she is the accompanied by Bovi as they lead the live audience in a massive search for Johnny. In a thoroughly climatic scene the mob-like crowd spot Johnny under a tree canoodling yet another girl, when Johnny realizes he has been waylaid he sets off in fear with the crowd hot on his heels. As the video ends we see as Johnny gets surrounded by the vexed crowd while Bovi in his ever frisky voice begins probing him about his numerous affairs with no favourable response the crowd proceed to beat him to a pulp. As this thrilling video ends we get a quick snippet of Selebobo who was also the producer of the track.
